Foodie round-up of 2023
Hope you’re all enjoying the festive season! Whilst I was tucking into the mince pies, I realised that there are quite a lot of places I ate at throughout 2023 that haven’t featured on this blog. Therefore, I thought the end the year was a good opportunity to do a round-up post and give a shout out to all those delightful dishes that I enjoyed.
Hopefully, this post will give you a few ideas about places to dine if you’re ever nearby.
The Recruiting Sergeant, Horstead, Norfolk
So we came across this place because I saw it on Google Maps whilst looking for food. We didn’t know anything about it, but it was half 8 at night and we were hungry. The fact that they got us a table at that late hour was a good sign.
The portions were huge. I had the pork ribs and there were plenty of it. The food was delicious as well. We didn’t order a dessert, because: a. it was late and b. we didn’t need any more food. I would probably say that this was my favourite meal this year, and I ate at a lot of places!
Panevino, Chepstow
Panevino is a delightful Italian restaurant just over the Welsh border. The layout makes you feel like you’re sitting in someone’s front room, despite being surrounded by lots of other diners. Beautiful views from the back of the restaurant. And top- notch Italian food.
Sorrentino Restaurant, Northampton
This didn’t look very appealing on the outside, but turned out to be a gem on the inside. The food was well-presented and we didn’t have to wait very long, despite turning up without a booking.
If you’re ever in the area, remember to pay a visit!
Bohemia, Brighton
Snug and hipster all at the same time, this is a great venue if we you want to try somewhere different. We were seated in the upstairs table by the window, which turned out to be an amazing spot, nicely tucked away but great for people watching.
The goulash was amazing and perfect for two people to share.

I wish you all a merry Christmas and am looking forward to more foodie adventures in 2024!
