Eating My Way Through London: Afternoon Tea at Ladurée, Covent Garden

Ladurée Covent Garden is renowned for its exquisite French pastries and delicate macarons, which take center stage in its afternoon tea menu. Ladurée originate in Paris, where they started out baking their famous double-decker macarons in 1862. They’ve since shipped them all over the world, with cute little shops popping up everywhere.  I wanted to plan an afternoon tea to celebrate a special occasion and the afternoon tea at Ladurée seemed perfect. Afternoon Tea at Ridgmont Station Tea Rooms

This is a delightful tea room situated in the former Victorian (1846) Ridgmont railway station building’s Ladies Waiting Room. I’ve been here a few times previously in 2019 and think of it as a bit of a hidden gem. With my love of anything vintage and retro, it’s right up my street. Now, I feel that scones are one of those foods that everyone has their own recipe for- however there seems to be a huge amount of variations online. Therefore, you need to try a few to find the perfect one. I tried out Mary Berry’s afternoon tea recipe for VE Day. These scones were the perfect way to celebrate the occasion and required a smaller amount of each ingredient- ideal if you’re having trouble getting flour. Ingredients 250g/9oz self-raising flour 1 rounded tsp baking powder 40g/1½oz softened butter…

Afternoon Tea at the Kimpton Fitzroy

London and afternoon tea are two of my favourite things, but for some reason, I had never got around to trying afternoon tea in London. My Dutch friend had always expressed an interest in having afternoon tea in England, so with this in mind, I planned a trip. There was quite a bit of competition but the rose garden decor of the Rose Garden afternoon tea in Palm Court at Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel in Bloomsbury enticed me. It also came recommended by colleagues. The whole thing was gorgeous. Everything was beautifully laid-out, with vibrant rose decor. Also, it lived up to it’s name with vividly- coloured cakes in rosy hues. It…
