Tea at Betty’s
It’s a bit cold and wintry outdoors and there is nothing more I like than snuggling up in the warm when it’s chilly outside. Do you want to know another thing I like though? Afternoon tea! Now, my trip to Betty’s tearooms in York for afternoon tea was quite some time ago- August 2017- but I think it’s time for a throwback. Also, I think something as special as afternoon tea at Betty’s deserves a mention.
I’ve always wanted to go to York and was delighted when I managed to make a visit there for my 29th birthday. One of the places that you absolutely need to visit in York is Betty’s tearooms as their afternoon tea is meant to be the best.
It did not disappoint. A piece of advice I’d give is to get there pretty early- Betty’s doesn’t take bookings and the queue can be long. So skip lunch. We got there about 1.15pm and only had to wait 15 minutes to be seated.
Once inside, the art deco interior is mesmerising. I’m an art- deco fan girl and love me a bit of the 1920s, so this was my natural haven. And of course, the delicacies served speak for themselves:
You don’t just pay for the food, you pay for the atmosphere and service as well. Pricey yes, but worth it for the experience!
