Canada!
I thought I’d share some photos of food I took on my trip to Canada last year. This is a maple syrup breakfast I had in Quebec. Everything was literally dripping in maple syrup! I had that breakfast after eating a three-course meal the night before. The main course was duck: Another delicacy I enjoyed during my Candian odyssey was a Maple Syrup pie. Those Candians really love their Maple Syrup!: And of course I made a trip to Tim Horton’s and tried their Timbits!

Right lovely girls and boys, time for a writing update. Since the last time I have posted a blog, I have had this published: http://www.weekendnotes.com/the-shakespeare-pub-victoria. This is quite different to anything I have written before, as I pretty much laid into the entire place. Which is fair I feel, it deserved it. I have also been published elsewhere: http://spiltinc.co.uk/2012/10/31/are-british-universities-really-dumbing-down/ . This is an opinion piece I had sitting around on my computer for a few months. Please read both :=) In other news, I am starting a new job tomorrow! I was in my last one for nearly two years so this is quite a big thing for me. The last day at…

1 August 2012
Finally I got a chance to blog! I have been watching the Olympics over the last few days. It has been so enjoyable, watching all the different sports and seeing all the countries together. The swimming has been so good. And to top it off, it’s taking place in my closest city. It makes me giggle to see Horse Guard’s Parade turned into a venue for Beach Volleyball. Take some sand and voila… I also really enjoyed the Opening Ceremony on Friday night. I loved Beijing’s effort in 2008 but I thought this one was delightfully quirky and very spectacular. It made me so proud to be British. Anyway, I…

July 15th 2012
I can’t believe it’s July. It’s sooooo cold. I think it maybe got to 17 degrees today which is ridiculous. Anyway I have had some more articles published. First of all, I got another one published on Weekend Notes: http://www.weekendnotes.com/cafe-espana. It won another Editor’s choice award which is fabulous. I also had another fashion article published by Retox Magazine: http://www.retoxmagazine.com/amelia-smith-northumbria-university-gfw.html. I’m still on the lookout for other writing opportunities because I really want to expand my portfolio. I also really enjoy writing and feel really happy when I’m doing it.

Weekend Notes
I have now joined Weekend Notes as one of their London writers. As soon as I saw this website, I knew I wanted to write for it. I liked the idea of a website with lots of articles on things to do in London, especially things that weren’t the usual. To be honest, any website about my favourite city is a winner with me. My first article got published last week. Here is the link: http://www.weekendnotes.com/tay-do-cafe I feel that all this different kinds of writing helps me develop my writing style. I also enjoy writing for different genres.

27 June 2012
OK, so I mentioned that a magazine has asked me to write a fashion article right? Well yesterday it was published: http://www.retoxmagazine.com/chloe-jones-collection-review-gfw2012.html. I feel so pleased by this, it was only a small thing but I feel like it is a big achievement. I have never written a word about fashion before and I wrote a published article! My Mum says I should get paid but at the moment I just like having the experience. I feel extra pleased as I have been having a rubbish time at work recently and I needed something to boost my self- esteem.

Graze box
I just ordered my first Graze box! My colleague has been talking about them for ages and she had a voucher so she got me to sign up. It helps her because she got money off but I got a box for free! Basically, you rate the healthy snacks on the website and they make up a box for you and send it out to you once a week. The choice includes breads, nuts, olives, crackers and seeds. Mine is due to arrive on Monday and I’m really looking forward to it. Sad, I know. I think it will be good to eat something healthier at work when I feel…

Jan 7th 2012
I’m pretty rubbish at getting round to writing a blog. This was meant to be started at the beginning of the new year but oh look- seven days in and I still haven’t gotten around to it. I have been quite busy visiting my very ill brother in hospital so I guess that is a very good excuse. Am really missing Downton Abbey. ITV treated us to a Christmas special and it was fabulous but was still without the vital ingredient of Sybil! And what is an episode of Downton without Sybil? I can’t believe I didn’t get into the show until the first series was nearly completed.
