Afternoon Tea at the Kimpton Fitzroy
London and afternoon tea are two of my favourite things, but for some reason, I had never got around to trying afternoon tea in London. My Dutch friend had always expressed an interest in having afternoon tea in England, so with this in mind, I planned a trip. There was quite a bit of competition but the rose garden decor of the Rose Garden afternoon tea in Palm Court at Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel in Bloomsbury enticed me. It also came recommended by colleagues. The whole thing was gorgeous. Everything was beautifully laid-out, with vibrant rose decor. Also, it lived up to it’s name with vividly- coloured cakes in rosy hues. It…

Bill’s Melting Bombe
It’s me. The lesser- spotted me. I’ve been super busy recently with holidays etc. (look out for more info in a forthcoming post!) However, I’m not too busy to share some pics of my recent trip to Bill’s restaurant in Greenwich, in which I continued my mission to find London’s best dessert. Bill’s Melting Bombe is definitely a contender. Creamy caramel, delicious chunks of brownie, chocolate icecream…you can almost taste the calories. But this dessert was worth it. Gloriously decadent, with sauce you can liberally pour all over it, it was divine. And it was very satisfying when I cracked open the dome… That’s honeycomb by the way If Greenwich’s…

Lavender With Everything
It was my birthday on Monday and I celebrated by visiting some lavender fields and having some of their lavender tea and a lavender scone: I really recommend a visit to Mayfield Lavender Farm in Banstead- it’s layer after layer of purple-y goodness.

My food travels in the Netherlands: Haarlem, The Hague and Amsterdam
Haarlem is a cute historical city, with an old market square that boasts several museums and an impressive church named (imaginatively) Grote Kirk. The city’s proximity to the sea, and Noord-Holland‘s fertile farmlands, means that food in Haarlem is wonderfully fresh and delicious. After spending the day visiting the flower gardens in Keukenhof (one of my favourite things ever!), we took a train over to Haarlem to have dinner in this beguiling Dutch city. Haarlem is worth a visit if you’re in the area, and of course, remember to enjoy the food. This is what I ate: Specktakel Specktakel is highly recommended on most lists of places to go in…

Polish Waffles
Birmingham has more canals than Venice and the rather lovely The Karczma, a Polish restaurant with traditional decor which wouldn’t look out of place in Southern Poland. I had these waffles: They also served a gorgeous tea with honey that could be added. The waffles were good but the tea was better :p

Tea at Betty’s
It’s a bit cold and wintry outdoors and there is nothing more I like than snuggling up in the warm when it’s chilly outside. Do you want to know another thing I like though? Afternoon tea! Now, my trip to Betty’s tearooms in York for afternoon tea was quite some time ago- August 2017- but I think it’s time for a throwback. Also, I think something as special as afternoon tea at Betty’s deserves a mention. I’ve always wanted to go to York and was delighted when I managed to make a visit there for my 29th birthday. One of the places that you absolutely need to visit in York…

Festive Treats
Happy New Year! Today is the 6th January and is therefore traditionally the last day of Christmas. I hope you’ve all been enjoying yourself over the last few weeks and indulging in a few festive treats. I definitely have. A lot of people are on post- holidays diets (which I don’t hold with) because they’ve over indulged a bit too much. Below I’ve posted a few pictures of the festive treats that I have indulged in over the last few weeks. Brownie and cream Three- trio mousse Christmas Pudding Okay the last one isn’t actually something I ate because I don’t like Christmas pudding but it looked gorgeous. What festive…

Brilliant Banoffee Pie
A few months ago my friend made this delicious banoffee pie for me. I thought I’d share the recipe with you: For the base: 100g butter, melted 250g digestive biscuits, crushed For the caramel: 100g butter 100g dark brown soft sugar 397g can Carnation Condensed Milk For the top: 4 small bananas 300ml carton whipping cream, lightly whipped Grated chocolate 1. Put the biscuit crumbs in your bowl, then tip in the melted butter and mix it all together. Spoon this into the base and press against the bottom and sides – this is the base of the banoffee pie recipe. Chill it for ten minutes. 2. Melt the butter…
