Comforting Chicken Stroganoff
I was in the mood for something tasty and warming a few weeks ago and this flavoursome chicken stroganoff I made was just the ticket. It is is a comfort-food classic- ideal for a cold winter night, or just when you want to feel cosy. INGREDIENTS INSTRUCTIONS Do you know what to serve this with? I went for rice but apparently mashed potato is a popular side!

Pear and Frangipane Tart
I made this absolutely yummy pear and frangipane tart a little while ago. I’m not usually a fan of fruit-based puddings, but this was wonderfully sweet, with just the right amount of sharpness. It was the ideal Autumn/ Winter sweet treat. I froze some of mine to make it last longer. Prep time: 30 mins Ingredients 215g plain flour 170g unsalted butter (110g frozen for at least 3 hours and coarsely grated, and 60g softened) ¼ tsp salt 60g caster sugar 60g ground almonds 60g caster sugar 10g plain flour 1/16th tsp madagascan vanilla 20g plain flour (for dusting) 5g icing sugar 45ml cold water 2 medium eggs 2 large…

Cosy Winter Afternoons With Cake
Happy New Year! I hope you’ve all been enjoying the time between Christmas and the end of 2020, and eating your body weight in sweet treats. I have- after all someone has to finish the Christmas goodies! Here is a delicious Victoria Sponge I enjoyed earlier this week, courtesy of The Lounge, a local coffee shop. Lazy winter afternoons with cake and tea are my fave. And as you can see, I got a friend to enjoy it with me 😊

Sweet Treats And Sunny Days
It’s lockdown in November and I think we’re all in need of a little bit of comfort. Throwback to sunny days when we could visit coffee shops and eat cake- this picture of a raspberry and cream cake I tried in September has definitely brightened up my day. The Loft, Shefford, Bedfordshire

Eating My Way Through London: Figo, Stratford
This pizza from Figo in Stratford deserves a lot of love. I tried it way back before lockdown 1, so it was a bit of time ago, but it’s stuck in my memory since. Figo is a great little Italian place in East London, with a vibrant atmosphere. The pizza was excellent, so flavoursome and filling. The restaurant is popular with the nearby office- workers, therefore hopefully it hasn’t suffered too much as a larger number of people work from home. I think I’ll give Figo 9/10 for its pizza.

Sushi-making and Sake*
Happy October! The trees are changing colour and there’s a definite chill in the air. I love Autumn- it makes me want to stack up on carbs and chai. I’ve also been thinking back to a sushi-making class I went to in London this time last year. I’ve been a bit lax in adding this to the blog because of everything happening with the pandemic, but have finally got around to posting it. When my friend, Jo, asked me to accompany her on a sushi-making course, I readily accepted. The chance to learn a new skill, plus the opportunity for food totally sold this to me. Our teacher, Makiko Sano,…

Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the ideal dessert- the Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake! Perfect for finishing off a meal (or starting one tbh), the Lotus biscuits have a crunchy, caramelised taste which goes well with a creamy cheesecake. And I love cheesecake! The Three Windmills, Newbury

Soft-baked Pretzels
Okay not going to lie, I’ve never really given much thought to pretzels. I predominantly thought they were a savoury snack. So when I received my latest baking box from BakedIn, I was intrigued to find that this month’s bake was going to be soft-baked pretzels. Not only that, but these were sweet, covered in cinnamon and designed to be dipped into melted chocolate. Pretzels were so fun to make- I would never have baked something like this usually, but they were easier than I thought they would be. I ate mine fresh out of the oven- they were delicious and made me feel like I was in continental Europe…
