Vantra Vitro
Vantra Vitro is a small restaurant nestled along Oxford Street in London, specialising in healthy food. Everything is vegan which is why a group of us ended up there for my vegan friend Anna’ s birthday last weekend. The restaurant doesn’t sell alcohol so I drank Elderflower water instead (somebody tried the Mangoade). The food was in a buffet style, so you help yourself and then the plate gets weighed. You pay for how much is on your plate. There was a choice ranging from Thai curry to steamed broccoli and strogonoff. I really enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend Vantro Vitro if you’d like to try something healthier. …

In the mood for Mexican
I seem to be eating a lot of Mexican food recently. Here is a picture of last night’s dish, sampled at Baja in Bedford: I really loved this and would recommend it. Definitely would go back.

Brownie Hot Chocolate
I’ve been dealing with a serious case of January Blues recently so I needed one of Costa’s seasonal drinks to perk me up. It did the trick.

My Favourite Book of 2014
I meant to write this post a few days ago however, unfortunately I have been battling a heavy cold. I want to write a review of my favourite book that I read in 2014. Even though I read quite a few last year, the one that stands out in my mind is The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton. I have been a fan of Kate’s books for several years now and a new release always goes straight onto my to-read list. I was right to anticipate the release of The Secret Keeper, as it is a stunning, accomplished novel, with many layers and an excellent twist. The basic premise of…

Christmas Food
This year, Christmas has been an opportunity to eat and drink for me. I have to admit, I’ve enjoyed the Christmas food with relish. Here are a few pictures of what I’ve sampled over the last few weeks: Mulled Wine (The Embankment Hotel, Bedford) Turkey (of course!) Raspberry Sorbet Cherry and Chocolate Torte I’m very excited to see what my adventures in food will be in 2015!

Christmas Markets
A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to visit both Winter Wonderland and the Mill Street Winter Fair in Cambridge. The Mill Street Fair was a lovely day out, with shops and restaurants selling food all along the road. There was, of course, the traditional stalls, as well as street entertainment. It was quite busy, but not too much. My friend and I even ducked into a church to listen to a choir and have a go on their tombola. I am definitely interested in going next year! Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London is a different kettle of fish. Now in its 7th year, it is a popular…

Festive Drinks
One of the fun things about Christmas is trying out the many festive options that the major coffee chains offer. Luckily, I work just above a Starbucks so this gives me a good opportunity to sample what they provide. Starbucks’ Christmas drinks come in their famous red cups, which caused excitement in the office when they turned up again this year. Amongst the options is their Egg Nog Latte, which my colleague loves. I have tried out a few, including the Toffee Nut Latte, which to me was a disappointment as it was nothing special. I have also had the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, which was enjoyable but tasted much…

Review- Transcendence
I was looking through my iPad today, when I came across a review for the film Transcendence that I wrote back in May that was never published. I have decided to post it here, if I can be forgiven for posting such a delayed review: Transcendence promises so much. And yet, I don’t know how far into Transcendence I was before I was realised it was completely boring. I really wanted to like it. The film ‘s trailer suggests that the film is a glossy, thought- provoking thriller about the state of technology. The script made the 2012 Black List of the best unproduced screen plays in Hollywood. It is…

Poland Adventures
I’ve been travelling again, this time to Poland. Technically I’ve also been travelling to Leicester and Norwich, however I’ve decided to blog about my Polish odyssey instead. When I told people I was visiting Poland, I got a lot of blank looks and questions of “why do you want to go there?” (to be honest, I get asked that question with a lot of places I go to). But why not Poland? First of all. Warsaw should be on anyone’s must visit list, as it is historically and visually compelling. Packed to the brim with culture and energy, I could’ve happily spent weeks in Warsaw but had to make do…
