Exploring Barcelona’s Best Restaurants: A Food Lover’s Guide

Barcelona is one of my all-time favourite cities. Known for its stunning architecture, especially landmarks like the iconic Sagrada Familia, it’s no surprise that the city attracted over 26 million visitors in 2023. From Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces to its world-renowned food scene, Barcelona offers an unforgettable experience for both the eyes and the taste buds. I wrote a blog post last year about two great restaurants I tried during my visit to Barcelona, and after returning a few months ago, I discovered even more must-visit dining spots. So, I thought I’d share my new favourite Barcelona restaurants with you! Time Out Market Barcelona: A Foodie’s Paradise If you’ve ever visited the Time…

Dutch food highlights: Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam

Welcome to the vibrant world of Dutch food and cuisine! Nestled in the heart of Europe, the Netherlands may not be the first country that comes to mind when thinking of gastronomic delights. However, this picturesque nation has much more to offer than just tulips and windmills. From indulging in hearty stroopwafels to devouring local delicacies like haring (herring) and bitterballen, the Netherlands has a rich culinary scene that is begging to be explored. I have written about the Netherlands before because I really loved the food. However, I think my recent visit to the Netherlands gives me ample opportunity to talk more about the culinary delights of the Netherlands.…

Where to eat in Prague (and Dresden)

Food in Prague is hearty. It is also filling and tasty. I was lucky enough to visit Prague recently for a birthday trip, so was keen to try as much of the local food as possible and discover where best to eat in Prague. The local beverage is Pilsner and it is ridiculously cheap (as is all the beer). My partner loves the stuff so it was his dream. I don’t like beer so I wasn’t so keen. However, there are plenty of other drinks to enjoy. Fancy a few ideas of where to eat in Prague? Here is a round-up of some of my favourite places I ate and…

Dining on the River Seine with Bateaux Parisiens

My trip to Paris was quite a long time ago, but I feel the quality of the food (and the whole experience) of my lunchtime river cruise warrants a place on this blog. I really wanted a special dining experience whilst visiting Paris and the Bateaux Parisiens Seine River Lunch Cruise was just the thing! Four courses, a glass of champagne, and plenty of wine (they really didn’t believe in moderation). Just to add that if you don’t drink alcohol, there are soft drinks and water alternatives. The starters were gorgeous: For the main course, I had the beef, whilst my boyfriend had the salmon: For dessert, we both had…

    The Spy Glass Inn, Ventnor

I’m a sucker for a beautiful view, and the Spy Glass Inn in Ventnor, on the Isle of Wight, has that in spades. When you’re standing on Ventnor Cove with its sheer cliffs and turquoise waters, it’s hard not to feel like you’ve found your way into paradise. And that’s exactly what we felt when we visited the Spy Glass Inn, a local pub with great food and an amazing view of Ventnor Cove The portions are generous, and the food is tasty—we both have big appetites but struggled to finish our plates of calamari and chips. They served standard pub grub, but it was very filling and the seafood…

    Sotto Sotto, Bath

Sotto Sotto is such a popular dinner spot in Bath, you need to be sure to get a reservation in plenty of time, or else risk not getting in at all. The reviews are so good that we were keen to try it whilst in Bath, especially as we were all fans of Italian food. Okay so it had a great vibe- bustling with people and lovely low romantic lighting. I felt like I was going somewhere really high-end upon entering. It’s deep within the vaults of North Parade, so feels very secret and hidden away. I’m obviously here to talk about the food right? Starter was calamari which is…

Foodie Adventures in the Scottish Highlands

I hope your 2022 is off to a good start so far? As well as wanting to be a food blogger, I’ve always fancied being a travel blogger. What could be better than travelling the world, writing about my experiences of eating great food and seeing interesting sights? Travel blogging is not quite an area I’ve cracked yet, but I still enjoy talking about the food I’ve eaten in the places I’ve visited. My trip to the Scottish Highlands last Autumn is perfect for that. Most of my food choices were centered around Inverness as it is the capital of the Highlands. Inverness is full of visitors who want to…

Foodies do the West Coast of Canada

Autumn is my favourite time of the year. I’ve written countless blog posts about it and save my sweater collection all year round, ready for the Autumn months. This year, I started my Autumn off by spending it in the Canadian Rockies. I’ve really wanted to go there for sometime. After a nine hour flight, I arrived in Banff, to be greeted by crisp air and the sights of lush meadows and tall peaks. I’ve visited Canada before, back in 2012, and it is one of my favourite places. That time, I was lucky enough to visit the East Coast and posted a blog about my culinary experience here. An overarching…

    Maltese Platter

The super- hot weather has put me in a holiday mood and has led me to think back to my trip to Malta last year. Maltese cuisine is heavily influenced by Italy- wholesome and full of flavour. If you visit Malta, give their Maltese platter a try. It is a selection box of several Maltese delicacies, including breads, Maltese sausage and sundried tomato. The Maltese have got it right- why have one thing when you can have everything! This is one that we tried in St George’s Bay, however most restaurants should serve them.

The Auld Hundred, Edinburgh- Finally tried Haggis

I managed to visit Scotland finally- after years of wanting to go there. It’s been top of my wish list for a while now. I absolutely loved Edinburgh- such a beautiful city, one of Europe’s finest in my opinion. And whilst I was there, I grabbed the opportunity to try haggis. I decided to have mine as part of a burger. Verdict: it was delicious. Haggis and burger- The Auld Hundred, Edinburgh
